Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage glaucoma conditions, utilizing the latest diagnostic tools and technology
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with glaucoma, considering their unique medical history and lifestyle
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care for patients
  • Educate patients about their condition and treatment options, empowering them to make informed decisions about their eye health
  • Stay current with advances in glaucoma treatment and contribute to the advancement of clinical knowledge through research and scholarly activities

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution and completion of ophthalmology residency
  • Fellowship training in glaucoma or significant experience in managing glaucoma patients
  • Board certification or eligibility in ophthalmology and subspecialty training in glaucoma
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing culturally competent care and promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion

Day-to-day

  • Conduct comprehensive glaucoma evaluations, including visual field testing, optic nerve imaging, and intraocular pressure assessment
  • Perform surgical interventions for glaucoma management, such as trabeculectomy, tube shunt implantation, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development through participation in conferences, journal clubs, and other educational opportunities
  • Collaborate with other clinicians in the organization to provide coordinated care and consultation for complex glaucoma cases
  • Participate in community outreach and educational initiatives to raise awareness about glaucoma and promote early detection and treatment
