Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment.
- Perform advanced surgical procedures, such as vitrectomy and retinal detachment repair, with precision and care.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay abreast of latest advancements in retinal treatments and contribute to the development of best practices within the specialty.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment options, prognosis, and preventative measures to promote ocular health.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency program and a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery.
- Board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology and/or Vitreoretinal Surgery.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Day-to-day
- Conduct consultations and comprehensive examinations to assess retinal health and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography, to evaluate retinal pathology.
- Perform surgical interventions in a dedicated ophthalmic surgical suite, utilizing cutting-edge technology and techniques.
- Collaborate with referring physicians to ensure seamless coordination of care for mutual patients.
- Contribute to the academic mission of the practice through involvement in teaching, research, and professional development activities.
